PESI portal launched

The portal of PESI (Pan-European Species directories Infrastructure) has been launched: www.eu-nomen.eu/portal and is available in 21 European languages. With time, it will be possible to find and search through the information of all species appearing in Europe. Not only of all terrestrial and aquatic species, but also the species living in seas and oceans. Currently, there are already nearly half a million scientific and non-scientific names in 89 languages for over 210,000 species and over 6 million distribution records.

Final PESI brochure!

The final PESI brochure was prepared and coordinated by Roisin Nash, EcoServe, Dublin, Ireland. Prints (10-15) will be sent to all partners and non-contracted consortium members for distribution to the (potential) user communities in their countries.

PESI seminar National Museum of Natural History, Sofia, Bulgaria

 

On March 11, 2011 PESI Bulgarian Focal Point, the National Museum of Natural History (http://www.nmnhs.com/ ) in Sofia, organised a national seminar focused on the PESI Project for an audience of ca. 40. PESI coordinator, the University of Amsterdam, was represented by Yde de Jong and Julia Kouwenberg for PESI and by Olaf Bankí for LifeWatch. Pavel Stoev demonstrated the PESI Portal and its tools for national stakeholders. Other presentations were mainly focused on a Bulgarian Ecological Monitoring Information System and on e-publishing with Phytokeys and Zookeys as examples.
